Tray is a Mac app that holds references to files you already have. The app has no account, no analytics and no telemetry. This website counts visits. The two are separate, and this page describes both.
This website
It counts page views and download clicks, using PostHog, so we can tell whether anybody is finding the site and which part of it leads to the download. That is the whole purpose; nothing here is sold, shared or used to advertise to you.
It sets no cookies — the one thing stored is a random identifier in this browser’s local storage, so two page views in a row are counted as one visit rather than two strangers. Web addresses are stripped of everything after the ? before they are sent, so nothing carried in a link can be recorded by accident. No name, no email address and no account is involved, and we cannot tell who you are from any of it.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is recorded at all and you need do nothing further. Otherwise the switch below turns it off for this browser.
There is no consent banner. A banner asks everybody the question on arrival and is clicked away unread; a switch on the page that explains what is collected is found by the people who actually want it.
The app, before you buy
An unactivated copy of Tray does not use the network at all. It reads the folders you point it at and the files you hand it, and nothing leaves your Mac. The list of what is in your tray lives on your Mac and is never sent anywhere.
The app, once you activate a licence
Activating sends three things to Lemon Squeezy, who issue and check licences on our behalf:
- the licence key you paste in;
- your Mac’s name, so an activation is recognisable when you want to release it;
- a hardware identifier for the machine, so the licence can be tied to it and handed back later.
Tray re-checks the licence about once a day. If it cannot reach the network it keeps working. Deactivating in Tray’s settings releases the activation.
That is the complete list. Tray never sends the names, contents, locations or number of your files, and it has no code that could.
Payment
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record and takes the payment. Card details never reach this website or the app — we never see them. What we receive from them is the fact that a licence was bought, and the email address it was bought with, so we can send the key and answer support.
Keeping and deleting
Licence and order records are kept while the licence is live and for as long afterwards as tax and accounting rules require. Write to support@gettray.app to ask for a copy of what is held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted where there is no legal reason to keep it.
Who to ask
VEGAWEAR LTD is the data controller. Reach us at support@gettray.app. A postal address is available on request.
