Refunds

Last updated 21 October 2026

The short version: there is no refund window, and there are three ways to find out whether you want Tray before paying anything for it. If the app does not do what this site says it does, that is not a change of mind and you get your money back.

Two free things, and they are different

The app is free to download and free to keep using, with no time limit on it at all. That version takes in every file you drop, refuses nothing and loses nothing; what it caps is how much stops ageing out, how many folders are watched, and whether a handful arrives as one card.

Tray Pro, which lifts those caps, is sold two ways. The yearly plan has a three-day free trial in front of it when you buy through this site: the checkout takes your card and unlocks everything straight away, and nothing is charged until the three days are up. The lifetime licence is a single payment, bought outright.

Buying through the App Store instead starts charging at once — there is no trial on that side, and Apple shows its own terms before you confirm. The free app is the same on both, so the way to try Pro for nothing is the yearly plan bought here.

Cancel inside the three days and you pay nothing

Use the link in the email Lemon Squeezy sends when the trial starts, and the subscription ends before any money moves. There is no charge to reverse and nothing to ask us for. Lemon Squeezy also writes to you before the trial ends, so the date is not something you have to remember on your own.

After that, the sale is the sale

Let the three days run out and the year is charged. From that point refunds are not offered for a change of mind — you have had the paid version, unlocked, on your own machine, and decided to keep it.

A lifetime licence is bought outright

There is no trial in front of a one-off purchase and no window behind it: once it is bought, it is bought. What there is instead is every way of finding out first. The app is free for as long as you like, and if you want to try the paid version itself before buying it for good, the yearly plan’s three days cost nothing and unlock exactly the same thing. Nobody has to pay to find out whether Tray is for them.

Bought through the App Store

Apple handles the billing, the cancelling and the refunds, and none of it passes through us — we are not told who bought and cannot reverse a charge we never received. Ask Apple directly through their purchase support, or from the Mac in System Settings under your Apple ID. Their refund policy is their own and is more generous than this page in places; where the two differ on an App Store purchase, theirs is the one that applies.

An App Store purchase is attached to your Apple ID rather than to a key, so it restores itself on your other Macs and there is nothing to paste in.

If something is actually wrong

That is not a change of mind and it is not covered by the paragraph above. If Tray does not do what this site says it does, write to support@gettray.app — with the email address you bought with, so the order can be found. Either it gets fixed or you get your money back. Your legal rights in respect of faulty software are not affected by anything on this page.

Not renewing the yearly plan

A yearly licence runs for a year at a time. If you do not want another one, cancel through the link in your receipt from Lemon Squeezy, or write to support@gettray.app. Cancelling stops the next payment and does not cut the current year short — Tray keeps its full abilities until the year you paid for is up.

When it does end, Tray falls back to the free limits and takes nothing away. Files you had kept stay kept, clusters stay bundled, and nothing leaves the tray. There is no state in which paying once and stopping leaves you worse off than never having paid.

Who actually takes the money

Never us, either way. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for anything bought through this site; Apple is for anything bought through the App Store. Each handles its own payments, receipts, renewals and refunds, each has its own terms that apply alongside this page, and either may grant a refund under its own policy regardless of what is written here. Anything refunded goes back to the original payment method, usually within a few working days depending on your bank.
